  1. Anschen Conradie

Sonia Main, a Red Cross nurse, meets the love of her life during a brief vacation in Africa, after rebuilding her life following a traumatic past. But he is married; a fact that is irreconcilable with her faith.

Curt McGee’s marriage is falling apart due to his wife’s infidelity. Sonia can provide a new future, but he is bound to his marriage and to the promise he made before God.

They agree to meet again in 6 months time. What they did not know, was that a lifetime of events will happen during that brief amount of time; they will encounter kidnapping, rape, violence, child molestation, the abortion dilemma and more before they were to meet again.

The novel is Christian fiction, but does not hesitate to tackle tough situations and scenario’s head on and sensitive readers should tread lightly. It is, however, necessary to expose the horror of sexual and other violence – especially against women and children – and the author does exactly that.

Although it is an easy read, the last few chapters built up to a chilling climax and I caught myself reading faster and faster towards the end.

The novel is recommended for readers of Christian fiction. There were a few mistakes that need to be corrected, but it was overall a captivating and interesting read, worthy of 3 stars.
